Presenters:

  • Gabriel Herodier: Trauma-Informed Cree Counsellor

  • Lisa V. Wesley: Mental Health and Wellness Manager, Mushkegowuk Health; Registered Trainer

  • Summer Rickard: Mental Health and Addictions Worker, Mushkegowuk Health; Registered Trainer


Workshop Highlights:

  • Gabriel Herodier

    will discuss dream interpretation using traditional Indigenous perspectives passed down from Elders, and its role in healing. Gabriel will discuss the importance of building internal self-healing tools to work through trauma. 

  • Lisa V. Wesley

    will cover identifying your body's response to trauma, types and symptoms of trauma, and the importance of beginning or continuing your healing process for intergenerational healing

  • Summer Rickard will discuss how trauma affects relationships with friends, family, and loved ones. She will provide tools and knowledge from her work with the Land-Based Healing and Detox team to aid participants on their healing journey.


    Please note that this workshop has a heavy focus on trauma and some participants may be triggered by the topics of discussion (trigger warning: domestic abuse, child abuse, violence, alcohol, suicide). If you would like to discuss potential triggers, please contact Lisa at LisaWesley@mushkegowuk.ca or 705-269-6662 ext 436. Mental health support will be available onsite.


Registration is required. Limited spaces are available. Lunch will be available for participants.   


This workshop is available to members of Mushkegowuk communities.
