HEALING AND DETOX
The Land Based Detox and Healing Program is a specialized program that provides land-based healing and residential treatment services to support addictions and recovery. The program is designed for Indigenous youth and adults 16+ who struggle with mental health and addictions through traditional guidance and reconnecting to the lands.
Land-Based Treatment and Healing can take place when we return or reconnect to the land by relearning, revitalizing and reclaiming our traditional wellness practices. The land is foundational to our Indigenous identity, but over generations of colonization we have been disconnected and dispossessed from our traditional territories.

The program involves a seven (7) day detoxification through the integration of traditional medicines and land-based healing. This process helps to remove a substance of dependency through the body that is guided and delivered by trained Indigenous professionals.

Detoxification presents an opportunity for participants to become stabilized while serving as a way to prepare and permit participants to fully embrace rehabilitative treatment. Participants work with each other and staff throughout the 7-day program that is guided by Residential Workers, a Harm Reduction Nurse, Traditional Healers, and counsellors to help participants explore key factors such as :
-
Self-identity
-
Family dynamics
-
Barriers to healing
-
Intergenerational impacts
-
Trauma

The program uses a wholistic approach to care, as the goal is to promote self-discovery and personal growth amongst participants to understand and value the importance of balance and harmony within their lives through the use of the Medicine Wheel and Grandfather teachings.

Our Land Based Detox and Healing program is offered in partnership with Niwakomakanak Organization
Providing wholistic health and wellness services is described as:
Focusing on individual wellbeing in the areas of: physical, mental, spiritual, emotional health.
Land-based wellness is founded on the principle of providing culturally-based health services to help guide individuals to whole wellness.
