Sara-Jane Hunter

Hi everyone, my name is Sara-Jane Hunter and I work as the Patient Advocate for Mushkegowuk O.M.A.

I am originally from Peawanuck, ON but living in Timmins, ON. I am a Registered Nurse and graduated from Laurentian University in 2017. I previously worked at the Timmins & District Hospital, where I gained an abundance of nursing knowledge and experience. I have met so many great people along the way, including co-workers, staff members, and patients/families. Some encounters affect you differently than others, for me it was the disparities that many Indigenous people face when it comes to health care. When this position became available, I knew it was something I could see myself doing. I have a deep passion working with and for the indigenous population. Thus far, I have been enjoying my role as the Patient Advocate and have been learning new things each day to better assist my clients.
