Summer Rickard

Hi everyone, my name is Summer, my Spirit name is Golden Eagle Woman and I come from the Eagle clan. I’ve been with Mushkegowuk Health since 2021 as the Mental Health & Addiction Worker in the Land-Based Program. I can honestly share with you that I love what I do, and I’m thankful to be around other helpers who also love seeing positive changes in people.

In this role I help with providing support during the program, intake, travel & referrals, I help with provide linkages with services within the community, after care & crisis supports, finding balance wholistically – working primarily with individuals who’ve been through the land-based program. This support can look like group work, individual counselling, individual needs assessments, and figuring out what you need, to help with your wellness & wellbeing. My support is based on individual needs.

I have many years of experience in the social work and helping field. My educational background:  
-Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work from Laurentian University
-Indigenous Focusing Oriented Trauma Therapy, Niwakomankanak Organization
-Social Service Worker Diploma from Northern College

I love learning, and I’m always looking for ways to help myself, so I can be a better helper to those around me.
